Is dental implant surgery painful?

No. The surgery is usually completed under local anesthesia, like many other dental procedures. The anesthesia prevents you from feeling pain during the procedure. Additionally, we have an on-site anesthesiologist who is licensed to administer conscious sedation for patients who prefer to be asleep during their treatment.

What can I expect once the anesthesia wears off?

The healing process following implant surgery is generally quick and patients experience minimal to no pain. Minor discomfort can be expected, however this is easily reduced with anti-inflammatory prescription medication or non-prescription medication such as ibuprofen.

How long does it take to place dental implants?

This depends on the number and location of the implants, however when implant placement is simple and uncomplicated, as is often the case, the entire procedure can take place in less than one hour. With our Permanent Teeth-in-1-Day Procedure, we can often complete the entire surgery from start to finish in just one visit. This new and life-changing procedure usually involves the placement of 4-6 implants in the upper and/or lower arch that act as a support for a new set of permanent replacement teeth.
